Crafting Custom Résumés

Let’s tell your unique story

Land Interviews – Get Hired

I’ve reviewed hundreds of résumés in search of candidates to fill job openings; I know what works and what doesn’t. What you need is a résumé that compels a hiring manager to pick up the phone and schedule an interview. Will a résumé full of keywords and an endless bulleted list of job duties inspire her to roll the dice and take a chance you won’t waste an hour of her time? My experience tells me, it might. But this is your life. Is “might” going to cut it for you? If not, if you want better odds than “might, ” give me a call or fill out the contact form and let’s get you where you need to be.

Your Value – Revealed

How much time will a hiring manager spend trying to determine if you have the skills, talents, and abilities she’s looking for? There are some statistics floating around the recruiting world that estimate a figure of fewer than 30 seconds. While that wasn’t my practice, I still think it is wise to craft a résumé knowing it may only get a few short moments to differentiate you from the pile of applicants. A few design elements that make it easy to get the information off the page quickly:

  • Plenty of white space. Nobody wants to sift through a sea of ink
  • Clear, easy to locate sections
  • Contact info at the top, in easy to read font and style

Furthermore, each industry has its own preferred flavor or style. I can help you decide on a résumé design that will get you noticed and earn you the interview.

You Are Not Keywords

Creating your own résumé is not only challenging but quite possibly detrimental to your end goal of securing a job. That’s because it is much more difficult to showcase our own skills and talents than we realize. You need a real person to coax your unique details from you, turn those into marketable traits, and display them in an easy to read, compelling document that elicits a phone call and secures you the interview. I’ve reviewed résumés. I’ve seen what works. I know the common pitfalls and mistakes most people make when writing their own résumés. Your future is at stake. Get the job you deserve.
